La fotografia degli altri è bellissima
This work investigates the identity
and the photography boundaries in relation to the way we use it.
The rush of the already existent images, being taken, reused, recomposed,
teaches us to some vision and signification patterns already established. What
does it happen then if we take the picture out of the photograph? What is left
of the representation per se and of the clear reality? It is then required a
new approach to the photographic picture that can allow the observer to be
aware of his figurative habits, through a change of standards.
To deal with the photographic identity
I have started just from what is NOT photography: the sound. I started to
record any moment related to the photographic snapshot: the ones on the photo
shoots, or when you have to handle the poses, at the photography festivals, in
the comments about the pictures vision, on the portfolio reviews. Every
word was telling the photography as a sort of a synesthetic game.
I have transcribed on a
computer the mostly used sentences printing them on sheets of papers which I
eventually took picture of, reconstructing, through the shot, the photographic
act. The work has then been printed on a Kodak photographic paper 10 x 15 cm,
in order to “bring back” the picture
on the rectangular (photographic) paper.
Framed and hung on the wall,
the photographs acquire new meanings through a complex and inextricable space
of signification such as the verb-visual one.
